Coochbeharr is situated on the bank of River Torsha. It is well connected with other parts of the country by Rail and Road. The most significant architectural structure in the town is undoubtedly the Royal Palace built or Cooch Behar Palace by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan in 1887 AD. The Palace also called as Victor Jubilee Palace and was designed on the model of Buckingham Palace in London.
The Palace at Koch Bihar was taken over by the Archaeological Survey of India in 1982 for protection and preservation.
The Museum: Part of the Royal Palace is modified and opened for the Public as Museum in 2002 with the antiquities and objects collected by the Archaeological Survey of India as well as the state government. The exhibits are arranged in seven galleries.
Madanmohan Temple: Situated in the heart of the Cooch Behar town this temple was constructed by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan during 1885 to 1889. The deities include those of Lord MadanMohan, MaKali, Ma Tara, Ma Bhavani and other forms. Madan Mohan temple is a rare congregation of Baishnav cult of Hindus.
